In 1990’s, in the beautiful coastal city of Qingdao, China, a young man named Feng, embarked on a journey that would change his life forever. Growing up near the Yellow Sea, he was captivated by the ocean from an early age. After completing his studies in college majored in mechanical engineering, he was fortunate enough to land a job with a renowned Japanese fishing company, known for its exquisite craftsmanship and innovative designs.
Under the guidance of master artisans, Feng honed his skills in producing fishing rods and reels learning the intricate techniques that had been passed down through generations. He immersed himself in the culture of fishing, understanding not only the mechanics but also the philosophy behind creating tools that connected people with nature. The experience in Japan ignited a passion within him—a dream of one day starting his own fishing company.
After several years of learning and perfecting his craft, Feng returned to China, determined to share his newfound knowledge and passion with the world. In 1999, he founded Sunking Co., Ltd, named after the legendary that symbolizes strength and wisdom. with a small team of skilled craftsmen, he set out to create high-quality fishing rods that combined traditional techniques with modern innovations.
The early days were challenging. Feng faced tough competition from established brands, but he remained steadfast in his commitment to quality. Drawing from his Japanese experience, he implemented rigorous quality control measures and sourced the finest materials. His dedication paid off; Sunking quickly gained a reputation for producing rods that were not only durable but also beautifully designed.
As the years passed, Sunking expanded its business to other fishing tackle businesses including reels, various nets, lures, and other fishing accessories. The company developed loyal customers based internationally, with exports reaching countries around the globe such as Japan, America, Canada and other European countries.
Now, after 25 years of hard work and dedication, Sunking stands as a testament to Feng’s journey. The company has become a leader in the fishing supply chain, known for its commitment to craftsmanship and innovation. To celebrate this milestone, Feng organized a grand anniversary event in LA, inviting customers, partners, and fishing enthusiasts. On the event, Feng expressed his gratitude to his mentors in Japan and the loyal customers and suppliers who had supported him throughout the years. He emphasized the importance of preserving the art of fishing and the connection it fosters between people and nature.
As Sunking looks to the future, we remains committed to sustainability and innovation. Plans are underway to develop eco-friendly fishing products, ensuring that the beauty of nature is preserved for future generations. With a legacy built on passion, craftsmanship, and community, Sunking is poised to continue its journey, inspiring anglers around the world to cast their lines and create their own stories on the water.
